Name Dropping: The gateway to significance.

Mass Media Name Dropping

I've had the timothy-simpson.com website/blog since about 2013 and it is a WordPress based website. I became interested in blogging back when I was interested in affiliate marketing as a way to get traffic and leads in order to market stuff to people who were searching for what I had to offer, or the other way around. But, I was more interested in the writing aspect of it and using the blog as a way to share what is on my mind about whatever issue that I was compelled to write about on any given day.

The result now, 10 years later, is that when someone googles "Timothy Simpson" this website shows up on the first page of google, which is a pretty big deal actually. What I have also discovered is that my pages dedicated to the memory of my parents and my grandmother and their families also puts them on the map of "googledom". When someone out in the world wants to find out something about my mother, for instance, they google her name and my website comes up with all of the pictures. I am using my website as an memorial of my parents lives by posting pictures, videos, and the such about them, the family, and my extended family.

But, also, one thing that obviously is possible is to use the name of celebrities and well known people in writing to attract people to your website as well, if that is what you want to do. Obviously many people do this and then jam advertising on their websites with pop-ups and all kinds of garbage to monetize their website. Basically, it is what all news organizations do on a constant basis. So, I am going to try out the philosophy of "Name Dropping" to see what effect it has on the traffic to my website.

So, first off I want to drop the name of organizations because it is less personal, and air some of my opinions about these organizations.

When I moved to Europe in 1987 CNN was the only cable news outlet that I can recall that had an international reach. It was a major resource to get news and it was pretty neutral about things I thought. Basically, it just reported what was going on. I don't recall it being partisan in any way because I always assumed news was simply about the facts of what is happening and not to give an interpretation of it. Today of course, that notion has completely been thrown out the window. Now, CNN, MSNBC, and above all FOX News are almost completely involved in political partisan positioning because they want to build their audience of people who will use them as their primary information source because their interpretations give them the slant that they agree with. People won't watch something they don't agree with, no matter how factual something may be. FOX News is basically a partisan propaganda lie machine that blatantly fuels the fury of people who then feed off of the lies that they want to believe is true. FOX News was successfully sued by Dominion, the company that produces the machines used for voting in the United States, for liable concerning the 2020 Presidential Election.

MSNBC is supposedly a left leaning news organization. CNN has become left leaning as well. But, MSNBC is responsible for a lot these past years in my opinion. I will elaborate on why later in this article.

What do MSNBC, CNN, Fox News have in common, especially since the 2016 Presidential Election? One name comes to mind..."TRUMP". Regardless of how one feels about that name you have to admit it is a great name for marketing purposes. "TRUMP" has fueled these news organization's ad revenue to the tune of many billions of dollars. The other element is that "TRUMP" has been literally given him billions of dollars worth of free air time by these "news" organizations for well over 7 years now and it doesn't look like that is going to wane any time soon. It is fair to say that nobody in the history of the United States has dominated the news cycles over such an extended period of time than "TRUMP".

When I heard that "TRUMP" was running for President back in 2016 my immediate impression was this: "He is running for President because he wants to use the platform to promote his businesses worldwide "TRUMP"."  It was a complete marketing ploy in my mind. I was sure he had no intention of actually becoming president because I figured that he didn't have a chance to become president and nobody thought that more than he did. In fact, Trump's former fixer lawyer Michael Cohen,  says as much in his book "Disloyal". Trump had no strategy or political plan at all, he just sort of just started popping off with all kinds of rhetoric that I'm quite sure he found amusing, not that he himself actually believed anyone would fall for it. He was being an entertainer and clubbing the other Republican candidates like Piñatas at birthday parties. He basically turned the Republican debates into a charade featuring himself as the leading clown. I don't think he ever imagined that he would get a cult following who took everything he said to heart. I'm not sure he is that smart to have planned such a thing but boy did it work. When you have 20 candidates running in the primaries even just 15% of the vote will get you a majority of the vote, because all of the others with 5% or so each will take up the other 85% of it, making them more or less incapable of winning, so "TRUMP" won, easily, the Republican nomination, and was completely fueled by the media, especially FOX News who was going to ride that horse as far as it would take them, and it landed them in court ultimately paying off a billion dollar lawsuit settling for $700 something million dollars!

He was aided by a flawed Democratic field featuring Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders, who is actually an Independent but used the Democratic Party so he would have a chance to win the Presidency. Hillary Clinton was flawed mostly because of her personality, more than anything else she did before. I think she was probably the most qualified candidate to ever run for President to be honest, but even I saw that the fact that most people just don't like her would be a problem and it was.

But did even the left leaning media promote Hillary Clinton's candidacy like they did "TRUMP'S"? Not even close. Why? Because the name "Hillary Clinton" didn't create as much noise as the name "TRUMP". So, even when bashing Trump they were still promoting him, which gave him even more fodder for his tirades. They still play into this as if they don't care about what happens to the country.

MSNBC used 90% of its airtime during the Election of 2016 trying to slam "TRUMP", as it still does to this day, almost 24/7. Now it is all about "TRUMP's" legal difficulties, which are quite the topic and test for the justice system in the United States.

The majority of the population is gullible and don't think very deeply about things. Most people see that "TRUMP" is the lead story in almost every news cycle and think, mostly unconsciously, "This guy is very important." So, evidently it no longer matters to anyone that he has been married 3 times, has been unfaithful in all of those marriages, has used prostitutes probably many times, insults the weak and vulnerable, and self praises like no normal person would ever do. The party of law abiding conservatism is now the party of cult that sacrifices everything it ever stood for because of this monster they have created.

My question, not that this has anything to do with the article, is, "What happens if Trump disappears or dies of a stroke?" The media wouldn't know what to report on. No telling the conspiracy theories that would crop up. All of the talking heads would be lost as to what to talk about. Would even anyone watch the news anymore?

Now, this article is about "Name Dropping." What I am trying to prove is that "Name Dropping" is used by the media all of the time to boost their viewership. So, in essence, it doesn't matter 'what' is said about a 'name' it is only important that the name is said...and gets attention. The names I've dropped are fair game because they are in the public eye and have been for years. That is the beauty of "Name Dropping". On something so well known you aren't going to have to pay for the right to use the names because they are public names. It is free advertising for them which is worth a lot of money.

Obviously, I am not the only blogger, or video blogger who name drops. There are probably millions who do it from little guys like me, to the big boys like MSNBC.

So, we'll see what happens....
