Football, Basketball Crossover On The Hill

Its that time of year again, when Fall begins to foreshadow winter, the clock falls back and the sun begins to go into hiding.  Football fans are grabbing their warm clothes and coffee to fight the cold and beginning to long for the comfortable confines of a basketball venue…

This weekend, the football team is indoors as they travel to the friendly climes of Atlanta, Georgia, it’s Georgia Dome and the first match up with Georgia State University, a school not only new to the Sun Belt Conference but football altogether.

GSA sports an unimpressive 0-8 record coming it to the contest but has had some competetive games with South Alabama and Troy. The Toppers griders will be expected to win this contest and it is a must win for the Toppers, for obvious reasons, foremost, Bowl eligibility and consideration.

The Pigskin Tops are a much better team than their 4-4 record would indicate. The bulk of their misfortune is due to their own poor ball management.  Statistically speaking, the Tops are tops in statistical categories in the Sun Belt, and out performed their opponents on paper, everywhere but the score.

There really is no excuse for the ineffectiveness within the red zone. You’d have to assume they have some better plays dialed up.

Ray Harpers newly constructed constellation of could be stars come together to face Campbellsville College at 15:00 Saturday afternoon in WKU’s storied E.A. Diddle Arena on Johnny Oldham court. Transfers Chris Harrison Docks and Trency Jackson will not be eligible till mid January sometime, but there are plenty of weapons to go around till then.

It is a very encouraging group and I look for a team which is fun to watch.

Tops win easily at GSA, 20+ points at least, and the Hoopsters should win this exhibition game handily.

Go Tops!
