Why don't the people stop them?
How many times throughout history has this question been asked?
History is full of leaders who came to power and created a power structure that eliminated opposition to their regime. The supreme leader was then able to do as they pleased to send their country into an inland tyranny and into wars without merit. Everyone asks why the people didn't rise and stop them? Why don't they today?
"We the people..." is the entire idea of American self-governance. Yet, today we see how difficult it is, if not impossible, to control a rogue President and administration. The Supreme Court is proving to be spineless in its balancing of the power of the government. The House and Senate do nothing because the majority is in bed with the administration. The people are either brainwashed enough to think that all of this is good or powerless to sway their representatives to do anything about it.
Under all of this is the vast amounts of money being spent to perpetuate this scenario. The fact that politicians openly accept large donations from wealthy donors' PACs is just another word for corruption. Anyone who would do that is basically being bribed, and that should be appalling to anyone.
If we look at Russia, millions have fled, many have protested, hundreds of thousands have died because of the invasion of Ukraine, yet the people and the military are somehow powerless to stop it.
Somewhere around 30,000 Iranians have died protesting their government, and now the US and Israel give the regime a license to do even more.
Then we've all asked the question, "Why didn't the German people stop Hitler?" We are now seeing why. Because they couldn't. Too many people in power sold their souls for an idea which only way to succeed was to kill anyone not like them. However, it must be said that many did try, but they were murdered by the regime.
Where is all of this headed? How is this all going to end? Even if the USA and Israel stop attacking Iran, who is to say that Iran will stop attacking the same way it always has in the future?
On top of all of that Xi in China is just sitting back, watching all of this nonsense, and asking, "What's to stop us from attacking Taiwan?"
It seems war has again become fashionable for tyrannical leaders, and the USA is leading the charge with this senseless war.
The United Nations may as well not exist. They are doing nothing. NATO is being abused and is powerless to control its biggest 'Ally".
The Biggest Stupid Fact
The worst part of all of this is that it is all completely unnecessary. Russia had been making boatloads of money, and the economy was flourishing as the world rushed to help it out of its Cold War isolation. We have had 80 years of peace in Europe since the formation of NATO. The US economy has been rolling like gangbusters, with no end in sight. It is all completely useless, yet the mentally ill leaders continue to do what their mentally ill brains tell them.
You've got the power-hungry religious zealots torturing their own people, you have power-hungry political leaders wanting to return to the Cold War, and you have smaller countries struggling to have a representative government to secure stability for their people. We have gotten nowhere.
The Gauntlet
The United States of America is supposedly the world leader for democracy, freedom, and human rights. Where are we right now? We aren't that. How do we get that back? "We the people..." must get back control of the country sooner than later, or all will be lost. I cannot fathom a world where the United States isn't the role model for world peace. As bad as we have been in the recent past, nothing compares to what is happening right now. People may say I am overstating the situation, but I don't think I am. We have Senator candidates here in Kentucky who are spending millions of their PAC money from outside of the state to win the primary solely on the basis of their loyalty to the supreme leader. That is just sick. But, they will ride that horse as far as they can unless something is done.
The supreme leader is calling to make it more difficult for people to vote. He would love to just end all elections and become a dictator for the rest of his natural life. This is completely possible, and he knows it. There are enough sycophants in power to do his bidding for a taste of that power.
How bad is it? We don't even have opposition candidates for hundreds of state seats across the country. Hardly anyone seems to want to try to lead us out of this mess.
A world without moral leadership
Who are the Nelson Mandelas, Mahatma Gandhis, Martin Luther King Jrs, and Muhammad Alis today? I'm not sure there are any. Maybe Pope Leo IV? Not sure he has enough consensus yet. Who is the voice crying out in the wilderness for the cause of justice, human rights, peace, and freedom? I honestly can't think of any. I'm not saying there aren't good people trying, but they don't seem to have the same weight as those historic figures.
Today, "Money" has become the moral leadership in the world. Whoever can make the most money is given admiration and power. We aren't made of money. We are made of flesh and spirit, but the spirit is dying in us. The most tragic fact is that much of the religious world is leading us down the path of spiritual death.
I can't believe it
I can't believe this is happening. I can't believe that I grew up in a country that sought to increase the freedoms of people and stood up for the rights of mankind is now degraded itself to this evil. Why? For nothing. For one person. That is just ill. I don't know how we get out of it. I really don't. But, we must.
