Winning and becoming a champion…step 5 – Performers

Winning

and becoming a champion step 5:

Perform

There comes a time in life when you have to step up to the line and perform. Winners and champions embrace being ”on stage” as the thing that excites them the most about what they do.

In sports the winners and champions love stepping up to the line and shooting the game winning free throws. Performing means getting up in front of people and taking a stand, whether it be in speaking, singing, music performance, sports or business.

Leaders stick their neck out, make a statement, and take a stand and are willing to do what others won’t.

Performance is not an attention getting stunt

Performing is seen as some as simply a narcisistic way to get attention. While performers do get attention, that isn’t why people do it.

I have often spoken with audience members about theater and acting, being on stage, and it is a common misconception that actors want to ”dazzle” people with a sort of deception about themselves.  It surprises me that they think this, because what being an actor is, is all about being truthful or authentic…believable.

The truth is, on stage it is very difficult to fool people.

So performers must be authentic with what they are doing, basically it means being simply honest about what they are doing.

You don’t have to be a superstar to be a performer, you just have to be authentic and real and share what you believe in to others.

Step up to the plate, take the initiative and start performing. That is a very important step to becoming a winner and a champion.

One great way to start performing is to articulate your ideas through video, audio and the written word on a living blog. The easiest platform to use is the one you are looking at right now…check it out here!
