You are not broken.
The reason to read, listen, watch and practice in the niche of self help and personal development is not to fix what is wrong with you, but to make you stronger.
I was watching a video today with Tony Rush and he made a comment that really resonated with me. He said something like the following…
In the beginning you read literature on self help and personal development because you think you are broken in sóme way. Then you go about reading a bunch of books and listen to audios for hours on end and things don’t ever seem to improve much.
Then there comes a time when you tire of it. You just stop doing it because you are tired of trying to figure out why you are broken.
The true problem is, the revelation is, that you aren’t broken at all. You will never improve until you realize that fact.
When you begin to see these self help and personal development information products as being there to make you stronger than you are, then you read with a different type of thirst.
You aren’t thirsty for ”water”, you are thirsty for ”nutrition.” You aren’t living to survive, but you are living to thrive. Two totally different ways of life.
Fitness Studios aren’t there for people to lose weight, but for people to become more fit.
People who go to fitness studios to lose weight won’t because that is not what is important about a fitness program. Fitness is about becoming stronger than you are right now. The result may be fat loss, but it is a bi-product of fitness not a goal of it.
When you work on your strengths your weaknesses disappear. This is a fact I have always known, but needed reminding of.
You aren’t broken, you are strong. Just work on your strengths!
