Communications have become complicated, insecure, and untrustworthy. Social media is simply a marketing machine and the world of interconnectivity is seriously undermining our privacy. Therefore I am slowly taking actions to simplify and specify my communications.
For starters, I am transitioning to a new email service which is highly encrypted and secure. So, over time, I will be transitioning all of my important email to that address. I will still use the free platforms for junk mail and some accounts that aren't so critical. Plus G-mail is tied to Google Drive, etc, but I need to pair that down as well.
As for messaging I would like to change to Signal. It claims to have a high level of encryption and isn't owned by Fb or Google, or Amazon. Plus, I can keep data to a minimum.
Another way I plan on protecting myself is to not use my name or my image on social media platforms. I will be getting a telephone number that I use only for online accounts so that my personal number is kept personal. This will all take some work but at some point I hope to feel 'secure' again.
After the debacle with Fb I have been cut off from most of my previous life. I may even begin my own personal social media site somehow. I know there are ways to do that securely. Not only secure for me but also for my friends.
I'm pretty sick of the data barrage and the compromising of our private data by Doge. It is absolutely wrong. There are people digging into the secure systems of our government who haven't been cleared by anyone. No security checks at all. They could be anybody and we don't know who they are or what they are doing to our private data or who they are sharing it with and nobody is checking on it from what I can tell. It is monstrous.
Well, I guess I have to figure this all out somehow and regain control over my privacy. I hope you do as well.
