Enjoyment Is Required For A Good Life

I am far too serious. Stop it already, right? Dude, I say to myself, enjoyment is not something you get as a reward for achievement but is required if you ever wish to reach any achievement. I used to have a saying, ”If you aren’t having any fun, you aren’t working hard enough!”  That came from my days bagging groceries at the store down the road and I have always tried to carry it with me wherever I worked.

But in working for myself I haven’t followed that rule of thumb.  No, I am all business and determination and discipline (not) and think that thinking hard and trying to find the ”right” way to do something was the way.  Heck no!  Why has it taken me this long to lighten up!  Geez, Hamlet, lighten up already!  Enjoyment is your birth right!

Enjoyment Makes You More Valuable

Enjoying your work makes you a more valuable owner, manager and employee! I’m beginning to think it will also help me out quite a bit as an entrepreneur!  It is a part of any job description.  We have always been around people at work or in places of business who seemed to think it was part of the job description to be a grouch, haven’t we?  It is like, you are stupid or something if you aren’t in a bad mood, after all, like school, work is a place you hate being. Right? Enjoyment will bring you more rewards faster than any other single attribute.

On describing the ladder of success Jim Rohn, the legendary business philosopher, said ”Do the job and get paid, do the job with a smile and get paid more!”  You can always make yourself more valuable, and enjoyment in your work is an easy way to do that.

Tom Sawyer And The Art Of Enjoyment

Everyone knows the famous story about Tom Sawyer and having to whitewash the fence. If anyone hates school, work or wearing shoes, it is Tom Sawyer! Anyway, so he has been subjected to whitewashing Aunt Polly’s fence on a beautiful Saturday morning when he usually romps out into the countryside looking for adventure.  Noticing the kids giving him a hard time about it, he decides he would make it seem like an enjoyable task and before you know it he had the whole crew whitewashing the fence while he sat under a tree and ate an apple!  Enjoyment is contagious and it attracts people to you and they will want to do what you are doing.

How do you experience enjoyment?  You let the joy inside you come out, no matter what you are doing.  It makes everything better and you spread your joy around and it goes viral!  Viral Enjoyment! Thats the ticket!

I really enjoy writing these blogs everyday and filming my videos. Sure it is a challenge to come up with something, but I always do!  I whistle while I write have something good to drink and nibble on this and that!  Another thing that is enjoyable is making money from doing it.
