Fear can become your friend in network marketing
One of the problems in network marketing is that people have fear of telling people about their network marketing business. Certainly it has affected me and I have always searched for the words from successful people in the profession to help me get over my own fear.
One of the best things I’ve heard from anyone in the network marketing business was from Aron Steinkeller.
“In the beginning I was afraid to show people my products and opportunity, now I am afraid not to.”
He said that he used to have the common fear that most people have of simply pulling out a sample and handing it to them saying, “Here try this and let me know what you think.” The reason for this fear draws my attention to another famous qoute from a network marketing leader, Eric Worre from his book Network Marketing Pro.
“You must accept a temporary loss of social esteem from ignorant people.”
This is mostly what stops people from becoming successful in network marketing. It is inevitable that most of the people you try to present it to in the everyday world will not think highly of you for having a network marketing business, and it is out of ignorance that they do this. They don’t get it, and will defend their narrow minded beliefs with all of the same lame reasons that they “disapprove” of.
You have to get over it, because when you start making good money doing it, that will change. In fact, Worre says, you have to embrace this closed mindedness and be proud of the fact that you are doing it anyway.
What we are really doing in network marketing is “rescuing people from desperate lives.” This is difficult to do when the people you are trying to help say silly things out of ignorance and foolish pride to defend their insecurity about it.
Fear will stop the strongest person from doing even a simple thing as saying “Hey, take a look at this.” You must get through it and wear your pin with pride.
