You may as well surrender now because I am going to inspire you until you give up and say…
”I’m ready to live at a higher standard.”
There comes a time in life when you wonder why things aren’t coming together. Like the biorhythms are all out of whack. A state of being where nothing works.
It is times like these that try your soul.
In my life, I have always been a ”Rampensau” (someone who craves the stage) at heart. Thank goodness I got to spend 30 years of my life being on stage, singing the most awesome music ever written and acting the greatest opera roles available to a tenor.
So, when life takes a turn, when your voice stops working the way it should, you are lost. I wrote a book about it, Boredom to Brilliance.
I did some readings and even a workshop with the book as the topic, but I got all carried away with the whole ”success industry” and became disillusioned with my project because I couldn’t tell people the ”secret to getting rich.” I have ideas about it, but honestly, I don’t really care about it, because…
”…the riches that I seek are waiting on the other side….” (Kerry Livgrin, the Wall, song by Kansas)
But, here is what I discovered on a walk the other day.
This is going to be a rant of sorts…
I’m sick of the dumbing down of society. I’m tired of the Walmart mentality, the sitcom sarcastic humor, superficial videos and glib comments you hear on meaningless talk shows, all just to project some image of being cool and ”above it all.”
It irritates me. Okay, I know, it is all for fun….FINE…enough FUN already, what about inspiration, what about transformation, what about being an evolving human being, growing in every conceivable way from birth till death?
Seriously, I thought everyone read books. THEY DON’T.
There is a lot of fine people and organisations around doing their best to promote and encourage living life at a higher standard, and I am going to do my best to promote this as well.
Boredom to Brilliance is all about that, living life at a higher standard, being rich not only in the bank account but in the body, mind and spirit. Having rich associations with people who live life involved with the topics above the mundane banter in bars, of politics and the superficial discussions on religion.
I am going to challenge myself to read above my level, associate above my level, learn above my level and perform above my level, doing what I care about, and that is to encourage YOU to become even the most inspired individual you can become.
Gone are the days for apologizing for the fine arts, acting like it is some sort of neat thing to do with wine and cheese. NO!
I am not here to popularize the arts, but to make it even more elite than people percieve it to be already. Because, to belong to the club of the inspired you are going to have to earn your way in.
How? By challenging yourself to stretch what you are willing to read, listen to, look at and consider. To become a person of higher standards you must humble yourself to learn new things and to give hommage to those who are fighting this battle with you.
You are great, but you can’t be great unless you challenge yourself in reality.
Does it pay money? I have no idea…all I know, it makes you a more valuable member of society and places you in contact with people who care about more than the bottom line and their Ferrari…and believe me, I wouldn’t mind having one!
That is not the point.
The point is, be a Ferrari yourself. That is my goal for myself.
No cutting corners, no days off, no letting things go by, no giving up.
It stirs me deep inside to have re-discovered my mission and to be unapologetic about it.
What is your next book going to be… ”Mine will be… ”A Brief History of Time” by Stephen Hawking.
