Procrastination: Waiting Till The Now Passes

August 10, 2013

Waiting till the now passes is called procrastination

Waiting till the now passes is the fast track to disaster.                                                       Doing anything now beats doing it later by a long shot.  Nothing will hold you back more than putting off to a later time what can be done now.  Nothing will propel you forward more than doing now what can be done now.

My personal experience is proof of this.  Anything you put off doing remains with you as long as you don’t get it done.  But, what keeps me from doing it now?  The answer is always the same for not doing something that needs to get done.  Fear.

If your life is limited by fear that means that your mindset is dominated by an expectation of loss and pain. The reason for not doing something is always because of loss and pain, otherwise, you would do it.

Fear doesn’t disappear by waiting till the now passes

Nature never participates in waiting till the now passes. Our bodies don’t procrastinate.  When your body needs to go to the bathroom, there isn’t a whole lot of putting off you can do.  There is no fear with going to the bathroom because it always gets done.  In fact, you look forward to it.  Now this may be a strange example, but the issue here is that there is no fear in doing and there is only doing in the present.

Waiting till the now passes causes ignorance

Ignorance is a result of waiting till the now passes .  Ignorance is a state of ignoring something, avoiding knowledge or an act of purposely turning your mind away from something.  The definition of ignorance is a lack of knowledge, but actually it isn’t a lack of knowledge that is the problem it is the active avoidance to gain knowledge that gives one ignorance.

”I didn’t know that” is not an excuse in the eyes of the law.  Not knowing that the speed limit is 35 mph and driving 60 mph will get you a ticket, regardless of whether you knew what the speed limit was.  Not knowing you have to do this or that with taxes, or insurance or all of the bothersome life tasks is not an excuse for not doing them.  They will find you!

The answer for all of this waiting till the now passes is to eagerly achieve in the now.  You gain confidence through acting when it is necessary, you gain peace by acting before it is necessary you become powerful if you plan ahead and take care of things at the appropriate time.  Then the now becomes your ally and not your enemy.  You look forward to getting it done, because you are a powerful person, meaning, someone who has the ability to act!
