Reactivating Facebook Account and Editing My Profile and Friends List
After some soul searching, I have decided to reactivate my Facebook account and do some heavy duty editing.
The truth is, Facebook has become a place with millions of rules but very little guidance. The effect is, you have a lot of people breaking the rules, because first of all they don’t know them, and secondly because they don’t care. Others need guidance about how to write and respond with postings.
For me Facebook has two primary functions. First it is a place to stay in touch with friends and family, and meet new people. Secondly, it is a social method to grow my business. But, now it is primarily to use it as a marketing tool, not to spam people with offers, but to develop relationships.
For me, Facebook is not a place to air my dirty laundry, nor do I want to read other’s dirty laundry. It is not a place to let beligerent rant postings fly about politics, religions or to irritate people with all of these ”Share if…” postings.
I will freely admit making some mistakes on Facebook, but I am going to not do some things anymore and use it to lift up the world around me and to make more and more friends.
I encourage everyone to take a good look at themselves and those who post on their news feed and make the same determinations. Facebook is a great thing, over a billion people are on it and it can increase your search engine effectiveness, but it has also become a place for downward spiraling comments and discouraging words about any number of topics, and I will be editing that out of my Facebook page.
