Bob, Bubber, Dad, has multiple issues with his heart. They are…

  1. Congestive Heart Failure
    1. Water Build up in the body.
    2. Caused by the following issues.
  2. Aortic Valve Stenosis (Severe)
    1. This means the aortic valve is narrow due to calcium buildup.
  3. Mitral Valve Regurgitation (Moderate to Serious)
    1. This means that although the valve is working, it is leaking significantly
  4. Multiple heart partial blockages.
    1. He already has one stint.
    2. He has several partial blockages elsewhere in the heart.
  5. Atrial Fibrillation
    1. This means that the heart is pumping unevenly and very inefficiently.
  6. Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm
    1. He has had 4 different procedures to repair his Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm
      1. This is not in the heart, but in the abdomen below the heart.
      2. A very critical weakness. But this seems to be under control for the moment.
  7. Vascular weakness
    1. His vascular system is not really in very good shape. But, it is holding up okay.

The upcoming treatment plan…

  1. April 8, 2020
    1. Cardiac Catheterization Procedure.
      1. They will inject dye into his system to inspect the condition of his heart.
      2. The goal is to find blockages and if necessary place stents and…
      3. To determine whether he is healthy enough to endure a procedure called the
  2. Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR)
    1. is a minimally invasive heart procedure, intervenus, to replace a narrowed aortic valve that fails to open properly (aortic valve stenosis). Transcatheter aortic valve replacement is sometimes called transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI).

IF he qualifies as a candidate for this procedure the date will be as soon as possible, or as soon as he can get most of the water off of his body. The doctors project that this entire process should be completed by April 30.

It is NOT an Elective surgery procedure. In other words, it is a life saving procedure of necessity and can’t wait till the end of the coronavirus.

Dad is not a candidate for open heart surgery. Obviously.
