You Never (Should) Walk Alone

You Never (Should) Walk Alone

You’ll Never Walk Alone is a famous song that always lifts people up and gives them a feeling of strength.  The reason is that it is not a good feeling to have that you are alone in the world and trying to have a life.  It just doesn’t work.

I visited the Omaha Beach American Cemetery in the Normandy area of France where on D-Day the Allied Forces stormed the beaches against heaving enemy fire.  Watching the documentary film of those first boats pushing towards the violent shore I asked myself the question, “How do you get people to get in one of those boats and do something as suicidal as that?´´  The answer is easy, you get a lot of people to do it with them.  Alone, no one would consider such a thing, but together and in great numbers with the support of many behind them, you can get people to do incredible things.

You Never (Should) Walk Alone

You Never Should Walk Alone in life.  No matter what your situation get around people who lift you up, who you can lift up and step into your power as you increase your feeling of security.  Being alone in life is a sure way to dig yourself into a hole in every other aspect of living.  Intimate relationships are sometimes hard to come by, but you can still have close relationships with people who you can share your experiences with.  Family, friends and work colleagues are great aids in having a happy life, and if they are not contributing to your climbing spirit then get a new group to hang around with.

Alone, Rewards Are Empty And Life Has Little Reference

Alone everything seems to lose meaning somehow.  You can try it for a while, but when your life’s experiences are not shared with others and the events of your life are spent in a single realm of existence, it gets rather empty there.

I have performed so much in my life on a daily basis in rehearsals and on stage that I am used to having people watching me.  It seems I’ve always had an audience, so in a way I am used to performing all of the time.  But, I have discovered that without an audience my life loses it’s spice.  Alone you can give in to your feeling of not having to be present, but when others are watching, you would never want to not show up.  So many rehearsals and performances I walked into the theater really not at all feeling like doing it that day.  The watching eyes of others always prodded me out of that complacency and forced me to show up with both guns blazing no matter how I felt.

That is what community does, it is an audience that requires you to show up and perform at the best you can be.  Without a community you can be the greatest at something on earth, and do a million things, but, as the saying goes, if there is no one there to witness it, does it really matter at all if something happens?  Alone, every action is a matter of disciplined force, together, every action is a matter of leveraged force.  Do it together and get it done.

You never should walk alone in business either.  To be successful you need help from others who will encourage, support and teach you until you can become a leader for someone else, adding to your list of involvement in the business, community and in society and you have a rich life.  Click here to find out about how to improve your life by being in a community of high minded thinkers and doers.

Have a great day…get together!  It makes life better!

Here is a great rendition of the song with Renee Fleming!
