Stop prospecting family and friends…
…is the first step in ending stress in your home business.
This goes against everything 99% of the companies suggest you do.
On the surface, it may seem logical that by getting friends and family into your business everything would go better, but the truth is there are way too many reasons why this isn’t a good idea.
Your friends and your family are not prospects, they are loved ones. Plus, they have their own lives, their own careers and their own agenda and it isn’t on us as marketers to try and depend on them to build our business.
What happens is, you are told to get all excited about your business and tell them like it is the best thing since sliced bread and that excitement will cause them to want to know more and low and behold, “YOU GOT ONE” …. or NOT. Most likely not.
But what you did get was a bunch of the same questions, silly remarks and ego involved discussions on the merits of your idea, and it IS personal, because they are your personal friends and family. I have yet had anyone say sure “show it to me.” All I ever get is that cross-eyed deer in the headlights look with the accompaning “is that one of those pyramid deals?” comments.
After that, I see my friends and family in a light that I don’t really care to see them as. It does bother me and I think one reason why network marketing gets a bad rap is due to this very factor.
I’ve decided to be professional about this and just market online, get traffic, convert leads and make sales using systems and video instead of explaining myself time and again person to person or even in front of groups.
Why should I try to take someone who has no clue about what network marketing is about, much less is against it, and try and “show them the light.”
In fact, I find it a bit condescending.
I want to communicate my business to people who are interested in business, this business and already understand why it is a good idea. There are enough of them out there, why go and bug friends and family?
If they want in, they can opt-in like everyone else and go through the funnel.
Regardless of what anyone says, I’m done with the warm market bit. I am going to simply be a internet marketer and build my business in a professional manner.
