A huge barrier for me and online success is the fear of losing my integrity.
In my book Boredom to Brilliance I spoke a lot about using scale to get your message to the world. It is about chosing mediums that can effectively transport your art to the largest interested audience possible.
Obviously the most powerful resource to broadcast your message, art or mission is on the internet. Learning how to do this and be good at it so you can earn a living doing what you love is what it is all about.
I am a huge believer in internet marketing and in network/affiliate marketing, because these combined methods of broadcasting and sales not only leverages your message but also your income and the income of those who also promote what you are doing. It is a smart way of doing things.
The problem is the stigma which goes with it in many people’s, and admitedly my own, minds. The biggest fears people have with internet marketers and network/ affiliate marketers is that they are afraid of that four letter word: SCAM!
The problem with being in these two business models is that you fear that your integrity will be brought into question. The last thing I want to do is to take advantage of people and scam them in any way, and I don’t want to be seen like that by others.
This video by Jeff Walker talks about this in a very good way so I thought I would share his video here.

Many times I think people who are just getting started, like me, make mistakes out of inexperience and ignorance. This doesn’t make people dishonest, they are just making mistakes.
The Empower Network is all about internet markeing education and has an affiliate/network marketing hybrid suite of products to sell. It is quite obvious that these folks are good at it and that their heart is in the right place. Yet, they too made some mistakes along the way and have since corrected them.
But, just because there are other internet marketers online who use the popularity of the Empower Network, and use that name to attract attention to themselves by crying ”SCAM” and basically leveraging EN to get customers, people are easily sold on that message. It resonates with their fears and so they buy into the real scammers hands.
How many people have I had to talk to about this? Many. People search the internet for bad news, and every time someone brings this up I feel like my integrity is under attack, and I hate that.
So, Jeff’s point in the video is great for folks like me who care probably too much what people think of them.
What I take from it is I can’t be afraid to be who I am, to do what I want to do and be enthusiastic about it. After all, everything I have worked on the past 6 years has been about one central topic, to take people from Boredom to Brilliance in their lives, by expressing their mission through art, or whatever means possible, sports, business, politics or religion, and to be able to get the message out to the world, be able to earn an income doing what you love and to allow others to earn an income from what you are doing too.
I think that is a noble cause. Maybe it took all of this time for me to refine the message of my mission.
Integrity is important because it is all about being right with yourself and being able to stand on your own, stand up for what you believe in and do what you want to do to be happy.
What I take from this is I have to keep writing and videoing until I get my message clear in my own mind.
The reason I love the Empower Network is that it is all about exactly what I have been trying to do with my project, and that is, have a message, resonate with others, have people share in that message and to allow them the ability to share in the profits from my work, and the work of others.
To me, there isn’t anything with more integrity than that. Click on one of the banners to find out more!
