"Being creative is enough."

The Open Book

December 7, 2019

Having a website and writing regularly on my "personal" website is sort of a therapy for me to be honest. I am not attempting to be right about anything but rather am thinking aloud on paper. People are perfectly free to disagree with me, assuming anyone ever reads what I write, all they want because I am not even sure I agree with what I say sometimes. These posts are, for lack of a better term, "Thought Experiments" as Einstein used to say.

This morning, December 7, 2019, I am in my office. There are many things that go through my head in the morning and right now my thoughts are usually surrounded with my desire and probably more than anything my necessity to be an entrepreneur. But I struggle with business really, and anything having to do with numbers because I am a creative person. I have more ideas than I have the abilities necessary to develop.

When you look at the job market you see employment based on areas needed to run a business. You never see a creative job that doesn't require you to have the skills and expertise to "do the tedious stuff" that is required to turn an idea into reality. Even Einstein who was a creative thinker and was able to prove a theory needed an astronomer to prove it as being fact.  While being the creative holder of an idea can be incredibly lucrative it is also equally insecure. Those who service the idea are the ones who are more guaranteed to be secure in their livelihood.

As an owner/entrepreneur you can open a business but the fact is you are going need a lot of help to be successful. This is called "job creation" and your business must make enough revenue to make that business profitable.

If you look at the diagram below, I show basically how everyone fits into the big picture of the world of business. The IDEA is the thing that powers the entire economy. The owner of an idea is set to profit the most, or lose the most, from this idea. Everyone else is working for the idea. In fact, the exciting thing about being the Idea creator and owner is that everyone wants and more importantly NEEDS you to succeed so that they can have a job. Even the mighty US Federal Government is working for you, because if there is anything it needs is Tax revenues from the sales your Idea creates, not only the taxes for you and your company, but the entire scope of taxes on everything the revenue does in the economy from top to bottom.

This is what makes everything possible for a society. Without great and large new ideas the future is bleak and instead of viewing new ideas skeptically there should be a huge interest in mining the incredible value of creativity. Go forth and make the world a better place!
