Writing Can Be the Most Intimate Form of Communication

May 24, 2015

Why write?

We write because we have something to say. We write because we want to compose our thoughts so they aren’t simply a rambling on without structure or sense.

We write because we are alone.

Writing is a form of self-talk. We aren’t writing for the ages, we write for the moment. We write regardless if anyone else will ever read it.

In a diary we write an unabridged confession of our lives

In a blog there is the likelihood that someone somewhere will read it…as long as the website exists.

Why did I start a blog?

I started a blog before I understood what a blog actually was. I thought blogging was simply a place to write down your opinions about things you care about and it is, but it is much more than that.

What attracted me to the Empower Network blog and now this awesome Kalatu blog was the idea that you could blog and make money when other people blogged with it. The beauty of it being that the person who buys through your link can also do the same thing and because EN pays commissions in a leveraged way, you can earn on the sales of others. Genius.

In my book Boredom to Brilliance I state that the most important factor in feeling like a vital part of the world is to be able to express yourself into the world. A blog is the best platform to do that with and it isn’t just about writing.

With a blog you can post videos, audios and link to other websites and build an audience simply by blogging what you want.

So, writing is a part of it, but it isn’t all of it. It is about communicating yourself int the world and that has always made me feel good.

Without expression the soul is held prisoner.

But blogging is much more than even that. It opens up an entire world that I didn’t even know existed, content marketing to produce sales. This is actually really what blogging is all about. Using a blog to target a niche in the marketplace, become an expert in that niche and offer products for sale to your followers that solve their problems, fills a need or provides a luxury.

Blogging is creating content and sharing it with others. When you sell something on the side it becomes known as marketing.

That is why EN, this Kalatu platform, which is a WordPress platform, is absolutely brilliant. You can have multiple blogs, learn how to market on the internet and get your message out there and sell the products of the Empower Network at a 70% commission rate which is ridiculous in the niche. Where else can you earn a 70% commission on anything?

I blog because I love to write. This gives me a place to dump my brains onto the page.

The most annoying thing about it when I started was all of the negative BS on the internet about EN being a scam or something and that because it as a leveraged compensation plan is some sort of pyramid thing. People’s stupid antiquated prejudices about something they don’t take the trouble to try and understand actually really annoy me. People think they know something when they know nothing about it, and then have the nerve to think they know better. That is what I call the ultimate arrogance of ignorance.

I used to question anything having to do with sales, commissions and referral types of programs, and with the added element of network marketing understand people’s confusion, so I cut some slack.

But today my view has totally been altered out of my own desire to share with people the things that make a lot of sense to me.

I wrote a book and need to sell it, and a friend of mine suggested I go to bookstores to ask them to put it up for sale for me and they could keep 50% of the sale price. I was stunned by that, because it would mean I make basically no profit at all from it. The reason is because it is a real book. Virtual products are infinitely reproducible, cost less and can provide a higher margin of profit.

However, this made me think about it for moment. I saw that by allowing others to make money selling my book, I am not only giving them the content of the book, but I am also making it possible to earn as much money from it as I do. Not only that, by doing so, it opens up the possibility for spreading my book to more people, helping them out with my message but also by giving them a way to earn some money, much more than the price they paid for the book itself.

This is what I call altruistic capitalism.

Today I think it is immoral to offer something for sale if the person who is buying it can’t make as much money from it as the entity that produced it. With EN, you can make more money than the company does from selling it. Now I ask you…how is that unfair?

The great thing about EN is you are able to write your blog, sell the platform, earn 70% commissions with leverage and learn to market whatever you want. People aren’t buying your blog, they are buying theirs!

Practically every business on earth now offers referral commissions when you refer a customer to them. Everything from Banks to Walmart. You can earn money today promoting and referring just about everything you buy and use every day.

Honestly I would quit if I didn’t think it made sense and I will admit that thinking about marketing has taken me away from my creative production somewhat, but it is all a learning process.

Every business wants happy customers, returning customers and loyal customers. The real proof of the quality of products and the company is when people refer them to others. Sure making money bends that a little bit but if a marketer wants customers to buy more from them then they need to be forthright in what they promote.

I believe that the Empower Network is the best company on the planet because it is dedicated to empowering people to not only become better people but also to become wealthier people.

While making money is a poor motivator for me, the thing that compels me about it is that I don’t feel right about selling something to someone just because it helps them learn something, to feel better or inspire them. I want to make a visceral difference in people’s lives by showing them how they can”Make a million dollars.” Not by a lottery, not by investing, not by saving, but by producing something and sharing it with others.
